dc.description.abstractThe jasmonate(JA)signalingpathwayinplantsisactivatedasdefenseresponsetoanumberofstresses like attacksbypestsorpathogensandwoundingbyanimals.Somerecentexperimentsprovidesignificant new knowledgeonthemoleculardetailandconnectivityofthepathway.Thepathwayhastwomajor componentsintheformoffeedbackloops,onenegativeandtheotherpositive.Weconstructaminimal mathematicalmodel,incorporatingthefeedbackloops,tostudythedynamicsoftheJAsignaling pathway.ThemodelexhibitstransientgeneexpressionactivityintheformofJApulsesinagreementwith experimentalobservations.Thedependenceofthepulseamplitude,durationandpeaktimeonthekey parametersofthemodelisdeterminedcomputationally.Thedeterministicandstochasticaspectsofthe pathwaydynamicsareinvestigatedusingboththefullmathematicalmodelandareducedversionofit. We alsocomparethemechanismofpulseformationwiththeknownmechanismsofpulsegenerationin somebacterialandviralsystems.en_US
